About the podcast

Picture
A LITTLE HELP FOR OUR FRIENDS is a mental health podcast hosted by Jacqueline Trumbull (Bachelor alum, Ph.D student) and Dr. Kibby McMahon (psychologist).  The podcast sheds light on the psychological issues your loved ones could be struggling with and provides scientifically-informed perspectives on various mental health topics. As two Duke University clinical psychology Ph.D. trainees, Jacqueline and Kibby are learning along with you and share insights from their training on the relational nature of mental health. They mix evidence-based learning with their own personal examples and stories from their listeners. Episodes are a range of conversations between Kibby & Jacqueline themselves, as well as with featured guests including Bachelor Nation members such as Zac Clark speaking on addiction recovery, Ben Higgins on loneliness, and Jenna Cooper on cyberbullying, as well as therapists & doctors such as sleep specialist Dr. Jade Wu, amongst many others.  Additional topics covered on the podcast have included fertility, gaslighting, depression, mental health & veterans, mindfulness, and much more.

Season three is currently airing with new episodes each Wednesday.

Host

Jacqueline is the co-host of  A Little Help For Our Friends, a  member of Bachelor Nation, and as a current Ph.D student at Duke University: a soon-to-be clinical psychologist.  Mental health has been a prevalent part of Jacqueline’s life and as she has a BA in Philosophy from the University of Virginia, she has always been interested in studying humans, their emotions, and purpose.  Throughout her career thus far, she has primarily focused in research with her work at the Citadel first, and then for two years at the Mood and Personality Disorders lab at Mount Sinai in NY. Having been trained in several evidence-based psychotherapies, such as the Unified Protocol, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Behavioral Activation, Jacqueline treats adults with a range of mental health struggles, particularly depression, anxiety, misophonia, and OCD. Prior to her current studies at Duke, Jacqueline became part of Bachelor Nation, appearing on Season 22 (Arie’s season) of The Bachelor, as well as season five of Bachelor in Paradise.  She also  previously hosted a podcast with TV Guide about all things The Bachelor, called A Beautiful Podcast to Fall In Love.   Jacqueline has been featured in Vice, People, Elite Daily, USA Today, amongst other pop culture press for her time on the series. Currently, Jacqueline is airing season 2 of A Little Help For Our Friends, her co-hosted podcast that talks about all things mental health.
When she isn’t studying or working, Jacqueline enjoys fiction writing, spending time with her three rescues (2 cats & a dog,) and is an avid traveller.  She also enjoys agonizing over two paragraphs in a Word doc and calling it fiction writing, painting elephants, tormenting her cat, and gazing at her vegetable garden. She's enormously unathletic but still performed as a wrestler in a prom dress on Season 22 of The Bachelor.
